The Foundation pursues its objectives by encouraging and facilitating research floristic-taxonomic and supporting activities Herbarium Mediterraneum through the following actions:
- Promoting, with subsidies, new explorations of flora in the territory of the physical region of the Mediterranean and neighboring territories useful for those purposes;
- Facilitating by any suitable means the study of materials collected;
- Posting or contributing to the publication of scientific results of the investigations on the Mediterranean flora;
- Contributing to the increase in collections of writings and samples of Mediterranean Herbarium of the University of Palermo constituting documents of the flora of the countries of the Mediterranean Basin;
- Rewarding scholars who have done research with original results for the progress of the studies on the Mediterranean flora;
- Encouraging the training of young scholars, providing them with special grants to benefit at renowned Italian or foreign institutions.
