The International Foundation pro Herbario Mediterraneo was founded in 1992 with the aim of supporting the research and studying activities concerning the Mediterranean flora, in particular those linked to the realisation in Palermo of the “Herbarium Mediterraneum”.

The Foundation is setteld, by statute, in the Botanical Garden of the University of Palermo.
